Wild Rice: Grade A Organic - Light Cellar
Sourced from the crystal clear lakes & streams of northern Saskatchewan, where this annual water grass is harvested at peak maturity to ensure optimal nutrients, flavour and sustainable harvest. Post-harvest, it is cured naturally and lightly roasted. Our supplier works with Native producers who have a long relationship with this sacred food. Wild rice is one of the only two cereal grains that are native to North America. It has an earthy, nutty flavour and it is naturally gluten free.
Rinse rice before cooking. Soak first 1hr for shorter cooking time. Cook 1C rice to 2C water. Boil. Simmer 45 min. 1c dried rice yields approx. 4C cooked. Use it plain, stir fries, pilafs, as a breakfast porridge or add to soup or salad.
