Returns & Refunds — Our Care-Based Approach

At Light Cellar, we work with foods, herbs, and wellness products that can interact uniquely with each person’s body, taste, and lived experience. Our intention is to create a space where you feel confident exploring – while maintaining fairness and sustainability for our small, community-rooted business.

We call our approach Light Up or Leave It.

If something you purchased doesn’t work as expected, we’re here to help.

 

Unopened Products

Unopened products may be refunded within 30 days of purchase or delivery, with proof of purchase.

Because unopened products can be returned to inventory, we are able to offer a full refund in these cases.

 

Opened Products

Opened products within 30 days of purchase or delivery may be eligible for:

 Store credit
 Exchange

Refunds are not issued for opened products.

Because foods, herbs, and ferments can have strong flavours and unique effects, we encourage customers to take their time choosing. Our team is always happy to answer questions, offer guidance, or provide samples where available so you can make the best decision at the time of purchase.

Returns are intended for situations where a product did not work for you or caused an unexpected reaction, rather than simple taste or personal preference.

 

Defective or Compromised Products

If a product is defective or compromised – for example, mould, broken seal, or product malfunction – we will happily provide a refund, exchange, or store credit.

 

Books

Books are final sale unless defective.

Customers are encouraged to browse books in the shop before purchasing to ensure they are the right fit.

 

Customer Accounts

A customer account is required to process returns.

If you do not already have one on file, we will create one at the time of return. This helps us maintain accurate records, support product quality control, and protect the integrity of the Light Up or Leave It policy.

 

A Note on Responsibility

Our team is always happy to provide guidance and product suggestions. However, customers are responsible for reviewing labels, ingredients, and contraindications relevant to their individual health circumstances.

Because of the nature of the products we carry, we cannot guarantee that every item will suit every individual.

Shipping costs are non-refundable, and return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer.
