This aromatic plant grows abundantly in the Alberta prairies. It is referred to as 'Bee Balm' because the bees are so enticed by its bright fuchsia flowers. Some say the flavour is similar to that of thyme, other compaire it to Bergamot Orange, which is used to flavour Earl Grey tea. It can be used in cooking as well as herbal teas, tinctures, and oils. Like other members of the mint family, it is a great carminative.
Use: Infuse 1 tsp in hot water, cover for 10 minutes. Combines well with other herbs and can be used for flavouring food and salad dressings.
