Chia Seed: Raw Organic - Light Cellar
Known as the ‘Aztec running food, this tiny seed was a staple food for the Aztec warriors and other peoples in Central and South America dating back to 3500 BC. In Mayan, chia means ‘strength’. Ancient peoples used chia whole in drinks, ground as flour, and pressed it for oil. Very mild in favour with an excellent nutrient profile.
Best enjoyed soaked - use 2-4 Tbsp per 1 cup water and soak for 10 minutes to several hours for best results. Store your chia gel in the fridge for up to 5 days. Add a few Tbsps of gel to smoothies, hot chocolate, salsas, guacomoles, baking and breakfast cereals. Delicious added to juice or lemonade for a nutrient rich and fun traditional beverage. Use the gel as an egg substitute.
