Elecampane Root: Raw Organic- The Light Cellar
Elecampane is a member of the same plant family as the sunflowers and ragweed, native to southern and eastern Europe but naturalized around the world. Persons with allergies to other members of the Asteraceae family (such as feverfew, chamomile, or echinacea) should exercise caution as a potential allergen. Traditionally used for enhancing the skin.
Usually taken as an infusion add 1-3 tsp hot water steep for 3-15 minutes. Commonly added to cough syrups, expectorants, herbal diuretics. It has also been known to be candied and eaten as a sweetmeat.
