This bark is added to room temperature water, it has a slippery and mucilaginous consistency. Native Americans used to soaked slippery elm bark as natural bondage, allowing it to dry over wounds. It also served as food during famine. The mucilage may slow the absorption of orally administered supplements, and drugs. It is recommended to take an hour before or after drugs or supplements.
Infusion: 1-5 Tbs (15gms) added to a cup of hot water.
It should be taken with at least 250mls (8oz) of liquid.
