Astragalus root is known as the Great Protector. It has a rich history of use for over 2000 years in China and other Asian countries. Its Chinese name translates to ‘yellow leader’, referring to both its colour and its prestige in Chinese medicine. It is one of the most valued herbs in the world and has been well studied for its benefits by modern research.
It has a mildly sweet, pleasant flavour that blends well as a loose herb in teas and soups.
Use: Decoct 4-5 slices per litre of water. Bring to a boil and simmer 20 minutes or more. Try using the cooled tea as a base for smoothies or other beverages.
