Walnut Halves

Part of the tree nut family, walnuts have been cultivated for thousands of years in many parts of the world for uses such as food, medicine, dye and oil. There are several varieties of walnuts, some which are native to North America where they are grown primarily on family farms in California. The folds and wrinkles in the walnut resemble the brain, which according to folklore suggests there are associated benefits in consuming this nut.
