Join Malcolm Saunders for an immersive guided foraging experience through the foothills as we explore the wild foods, medicinal plants, and seasonal abundance growing throughout the landscape.

This extended plant walk is designed for those wanting to deepen their understanding of wild edible and medicinal plants through direct experience in nature.

Together, we’ll explore a rich diversity of ecosystems while learning how to identify, harvest, and work with a variety of seasonal plants and mushrooms that provide remarkable flavour, nourishment, and medicine.

This is an opportunity not only to learn about plants—but to truly experience them in their natural environment.

 


In this class, you’ll learn:

  • How to identify edible and medicinal wild plants

  • The nutritional and traditional uses of seasonal species

  • Sustainable and ethical harvesting techniques

  • How different plants can be prepared, preserved, and utilized

  • How to begin developing confidence as a wild forager

  • Practical insight into local wild food and herbal traditions

To preserve the intimacy and quality of learning, group size is intentionally limited.

  • This is an outdoor field experience approximately 1 hour from Calgary

  • Exact location and meeting details will be sent after registration

  • Please dress appropriately for weather and uneven terrain

  • Bring water, appropriate footwear, and weather protection

  • All events run rain or shine

  • Moderate walking through natural terrain may be involved
